Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The objective of this course is to deepen students’ practical abilities in 3D modelling and familiarize them with related manufacturing processes. Upon completion, students will be able to independently create and modify advanced 3D models, generate CAM codes for CNC machining, and prepare models for 3D printing. They will gain an understanding of machining strategies, tool selection, machine setup, and workpiece fixturing. Students will acquire the ability to integrate CAD and CAM technologies and develop a comprehensive overview of the production process from design to physical output.

Summary

The CAD/CAM Practicum course focuses on expanding students’ knowledge and skills in computer-aided design and manufacturing. The main content includes hands-on work with advanced features of SolidWorks for 3D modelling and the subsequent preparation for production using CAM tools. Students will be introduced to both CNC machining methods and rapid prototyping technologies, particularly 3D printing. Emphasis is placed on the integration of the design and manufacturing phases, including CAM program creation, tool selection, workpiece preparation, and basic machine setup.
