Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student will be able to describe basic forging techniques. Identify initial billet for hammer forging and die forging. Solve the force and energy calculations. Choose optimal forging techniques.

Summary

The subjects gives an overview under-used to be owing to physical, mechanical and metallurgical parameter forging on structure and mechanical properties free and drop forgings. In technological parts is attention sight on warming- up steel, forming machine and equipment forge, on demand on input blank stock on one's behalf hammering, technological processing free and die forgings, heat treatment and verification forgings.

Subject syllabus:

1. Forging of carbon steel and alloy steel. 2. Forging temperature. 3. Forging of microalloyed steel. 4. Forgeability and mechanical properties steels. 5. Heat treatment of carbon and alloy steel forgings. 6.Forging of stainles steels. 7. Closed-die forgeability. 8. Forging equipment. 9. Isothermal forging and hot-die forging.10. Forging iron-nickel superalloys.11. Forging of refractory metals. 12. Thermomechanical procesing of steels. 13. Grain refinement of steel by forging. 14. Evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties during hot forging. 1.True stres-true strain curves from tension tests. 2. True stres-true strain curves from plane strain compression tests. 3. Deformation heating. 4. Power rating of the forging. 5. The strain rate in hot forging. 6. Determination of the coefficient of friction in upset forging. 7. Test 1. 8. Stresses required for upset forging of solid cylinders. 9. Press forge cogging. 11. Upset forging under a drop hammer. 12. Test 2. 13. Forging of metal powder preform. 14.
