Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student will be able to: - define and describe the fundamental processes associated with plastic deformation; - analyse and clarify relations between the deformation behaviour, structure-forming processes and the resulting properties of the material.

Summary

The subject is focused on the processes acting mainly in the hot formed steels, which influence their formability, deformation resistance and final properties.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures 1. Introduction, terminology. 2. Complex research of hot formability of steels – methodology. 3. Analysis of the tension, compression and torsion test. 4. State of stress – influence on formability. 5. Comparison of deformation behaviour of austenite and ferrite. 6. Kinetics of dynamic softening processes – mathematical description. 7. Kinetics of postdynamic softening processes. 8. Types and kinetics of precipitation. 9. Formability – influence of chemical composition. 10. Formability – influence of structure state. 11. Formability – influence of thermomechanical parameters. 12. Formability of inclusions. 13. Mathematical models of deformation resistance. Exercises 1. Deformation, deformation rate – computational example 2. Recrystallization of the deformation strengthened steel 3. Laboratory cold rolling of the strip and subsequent annealing 4. Metallographic analysis, report 5. Complex evaluation of the torsion test 6. Acquainting with software SIGMACON, report 7. Interactive calculation of the activation energy at forming 8. Acquainting with software ENERGY, report 9. Description of deformation resistance considering the dynamic recrystallization 10. 3D maps in Excel, report 11. Selection of the article with related theme – library, Internet 12. Preparation of the presentation of the selected article with related theme – PowerPoint 13. Presentation of the paper 14. Credit
