Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Enumerate metals and non ferrous metals alloys after forming. Describe initial billets processing. Identify mechanical properties of non ferrous metals. Solve basic equations for force and strain energy calculation. Choose suitable forming techniques.

Summary

Significance, properties and utilisation of formed products made of non-ferrous metals and alloys. Overview of production assortment and its sub-division. Physical and mechanical ground of forming of non-ferrous metals. Technological formability of heavy, light, rare and noble metals. Particularities of manufacturing technologies and procedures (rolling, forging, extrusion, drawing, manufacturing of tubes and thin-walled shapes) used at forming of non-ferrous metals based on copper, nickel, zinc, aluminium, magnesium and titanium. Forming machines and tools. Forming of powder metals, heat treatment and surface finishing of the formed products made of non-ferrous metals. Environmental problems related to forming of non-ferrous metals.

Subject syllabus:

Lecture: 1. Nonferrous metals and aloys. 2. Thermomechanical processing of non ferrous metals. 3. Microstructure evolution, constitutive behaviour, and workability of non ferrous alloys. 4. Plastic deformation, structures, recovery, recrystallization and grain-growth. 5. Microstructure evolution during cold working. 6. Evaluation of workability. 7. Superplastic behaviour of non ferrous metals and alloys. 8. Aluminium, aluminium alloys and magnesium alloys. 9. Copper alloys. 10. Nickel, titanium alloys and refractory metals. 11. Hot extrusion of aluminium alloys. 12. Rolling and forging of aluminium and aluminium alloys. 13. Rolling, forging and extrusion of copper and copper alloys. 14. Heat treatment non ferrous metals. Tutorial: 1.The structure and properties of non ferrous metals. 2. Copper microstructure after cold rolling and isothermal annealing. 3.Copper properties after hot rolling. 4. Chemical composition of copper alloys. 5. Aluminium alloys. 6. Slitiny hořčíku. 7. Identification of precipitations in high strength aluminium alloys. 8. Microstructure, properties and hot deformability of the AZ61 magnesium alloys. 9. Forging and rolling of titanium alloys. 10. Drawing of tungsten wire. 11. Forming shape memory alloys. 12. Production of nickel-based superalloys. 13. Heat treatment of titanium alloys. 14. Numerical modelling of structure and mechanical properties for non ferrous metals.
