Student will be able:
- to characterise basic terms of the forming materials in the automotive industry
- to describe kinetics of softening processes and conventional and modern metallic materials used in the automotive industry
- characterize selected polymer materials used in automotive industry, their production, properties and applications

Summary
Basic principle of the plastic deformation. Classification of the softening processes. Rolling of the flat products (bodywork sheet metal, strip). Rolling and drawing of long products – profile, wire, tube. Thermomechanical processing of the conventional and modern steel - IF, BH, DP, TRIP, TWIP, microalloyed. Finishing works of forming products.

Subject syllabus:
Lectures
1) Basic principles of the plastic deformation in hot nad cold forming, type of crystal lattice, mechanisms of plastic deformation
2) Classification of the softening processes, dynamic and postdynamic softening, basic influences on the softening kinetics
3) Influence of the softening processes on formability and material characteristic, methods of increasing strength and plastic characteristic
4) Hot and cold rolling of flat products (bodywork sheet metal, strip)
5) Rolling and drawing of long products – profiles, wires, tubes
6) Thermomechanical processing of the conventional and modern steels - IF, BH, DP, TRIP, TWIP, HSLA
7) Finishing works on forming products (anticorrosive protection …)

Exercises
1) Entrance test no iron-carbon diagram, law of volume conservation, the actual strain, absolute strain, relative deformation
2) Examples on law of volume conservation + deformation
3) Rolled lead sample , the Report on the law of volume conservation
4) Test memorized examples on the law of volume conservation
5) Rolling and annealing of the ferrite-pearlite steel
6) Metallographic examination of samples prepared + determining the effect of temperature on recrystallization of grains
7) Presentation of assigned topics
8) Theoretical preparation for laboratory. Preparation of samples.
9) Determination of combustion heat and calorific value according to ČSN 44 1352.
10) Determination of combustibility by method of oxygen number according to ČSN 64075.
11) Determination of inflammableness of material according to ČSN 640149.
12) Study of thermal degradation of materials in different atmospheres, influence of catalyst.
13) Elaboration and interpretation of experimental dates from laboratory.
