Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Studen will be able to: Delimitate forming technology in face of competing shaping technologies Discuss meaning and perspective of steel Express thermomechanical quantities in forming processes Describe forming technologies (rolling, forging, wire drawing, extrusion) Solve fundamental exercises of technological practice Explain fundamental processes of microstructure evolution during hot and cold forming Apply fundamental laws of plastic deformation

Summary

Subject features students in a transparent way into problems of materials forming. Explains fundamental terms and context, characterizes most considerable forming technologies. Forms background for easier understanding and successful lesson of consecutive subjects of field of study.

6th exercise – test Calculations of strain during forming (5 points) 9th exercise – test Calculations of parameters of deformation zone and starting rolling conditions in flat rolls. (5 points) 14th exercise – test Excel (chart with two independent variables (5 points)) 5 pointwise assessed reports appropriate experiments during education(5x3 points)

Subject syllabus:

Lectures 1. Introduction (definition of forming, fundamental terms, Queen Steel). 2. ABC of forming theory 1 (crystallic structures of metals, plastic deformation mechanisms, hypotheses of plasticity). 3. ABC of forming theory 1 (stress, strain, strain friction, strain rate, flow stress, state of stress and strain, fundamental laws of plastic deformation). 4. Metallurgical formability 1 (hardening and softening processes in steels), 5. Metallurgical formability 2 (influence of chemical composition, of state of structure, of temperature, strain and strain rate on formability, basic of controlled forming of steels), 4. Heating of metals 1 (forming temperatures, physical fundaments of heating, concomitant phenomena of heating). 5. Heating of metals 2 (means of heating, furnaces). 6. Rolling 1 (theoretical aspects of rolling, deformation zone, bite of rolls). 7. Rolling 2 (classification of rolling mills, equipment of rolling mills). 8. Rolling 3 (most significant rolling mills in CR). 9. Forging 1 (basics of forging, free (smith) forging, degree of forging). 10. Forging 2 (die forging, equipment of forge, most significant forges in CR). 11. Cold Forming 1 (surface treatment before cold forming). 12. Cold Forming 2 (rolling, wire drawing, extrusion).
