Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student will be able to describe the rules of longitudinal rolling and progressive technologies of hot/cold rolling. Student will be able to apply this knowledge at improving the use properties of rolled products made of steels and non-ferrous alloys.

Summary

Subject provides comprehensive theoretical and technological knowledge about the progressive processes of flat and long products rolling, including hot and cold processing. Attention is paid to possibilities of improving the quality of products made of ferrous nad non-ferrous alloys.

Subject syllabus:

Theoretical aspects of longitudinal rolling. Deformation resistance - experimental determination, mathematical description, prediction of the force parameters. Factors influencing rollability, rolling defects. Influence of thy fhysical-metallurgical processes on the final properties of the roled products. Particularity of hot and cold rolling. Assortment of the rolled products. Progressive types of the rolling mills. Physical limits of heating before hot forming. Energy and structural aspects of one-heat rolling, thin concast products. Hot / cold rolled flat products, control of flatness. Rolling of rods, profiles and wire. Seamless tubes production (diagonal rolling). Surface and anticorrosion protection of the rolled products.
