Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student will be able to describe metals and non ferrous metals alloys forging technology. Describe initial billets processing. Student will know to formulate basic equations for forces and energy during forging. Student will by able to choose the optimal conditions for metallic products forging. Student will be able to design optimized shape of die cavity for die forging.

Summary

Significance, properties and utilisation of forged products. Overview of production assortment and its sub-division. Particularities of manufacturing technologies and procedures used in forging of metallic materials. Forging machines and tools. Forging of powder metals, heat treatment and surface finishing of forged parts. Environmental problems related to forging.

Forging iron-nickel superalloys. 11. Forging of refractory metals. 12. Thermomechanical procesing of steels. 13. Forging design 14. Evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties during hot forging.
