Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student will be able to describe progressive forming technologies. Enumerate factors of forming that are mechanical properties. Identify now technologies. Design and solve new forming technologies. Choose suitable technologies for nano-materials production.

Summary

Model of plastic deformation for extreme loading conditions. Mechanism of plastic deformation. A fundamental study of the high temperature deformation mechanisms of steel. History of plasticity and metal forming analysis. Systemic model of forming processes, systemic and methodical ground for designing of forming processes. High-speed forming and high-energy forming. Isothermal and super-plastic forming. Forming in vacuum, forming by ultrasound. Forming of material in tixotropic state, hydro-mechanical drawing, isostatic pressing. Hydrostatic extrusion of metals and alloys. Selected methods of rolling, explosive forming, forming of unconventional semis. Forming machines for unconventional forming. Rapid tooling for forming dies. Forming in vacuum.

Subject syllabus:

1.Cold heading and cold extrusion. 2. Conventional hot extrusion. 3. Extrusion of magnesium alloys 4. Hydrostatic extrusion of metals and alloys. 5. Wire, rod, and tube drawing. 6. Flat, bar, and shape rolling. 6. Roll forming of axially symmetric components. 7. Thread rolling. 9. Flow forming. 10. Equal-channel angular extrusion. 11.Plastic deformation structures. 12. Recovery, recrystallization, and grain-growth structures. 13. Constitutive equations. 14. Evaluation of workability for bulk forming processes.
