Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
- student will be able to digest bulk forming technology
- student will be able to describe flow of material in rolling and drawing mills, will be acquainted with recent trends
- student will be able to describe basic procedures of surface treatment, heat treatment and galvanizing in rolling and drawing mills

Summary
The subject deals with technological aspects of metal heating, rolling, wire drawing, section rolling, surface treatment and heat treatment. The subject is focused on description of recent trends of various technologies and on technologies used in Czech steel works.

Attendance at least 75%. Getting min. 20 points from the 30. Elaboration of semester project. Completion a written tests.

Subject syllabus:
1. The basic classification and characteristics of forming technologies.
2. Assortment of rolled products, basic techniques and methods of rolling.
3. Heating of materials before hot forming (physical basics, forming temperature, heating furnaces)
4. Types and construction of rolling mills, layout and technical equipment of rolling mills.
5. Production and processing of semi-products in rolling mill.
6. Rolling of heavy sections, blocks and billets, universal mills
7. Rolling of rough, medium and fine shapes, bars and wire.
8. Hot rolling of heavy sheets and strips.
9. Surface treatment before cold forming and cold strips rolling.
10. Production of thin-walled bended profiles and welded tubes.
11. Cold wire drawing
12. Manufacture of seamless steel pipes.
13. Special methods of forming (cross-rolling, rolling of wheels and rings).
14. Thermal processing of rolled products (controlled cooling, annealing, patenting).
