Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Student will know the concepts knowledge society, information process, information resources, data mining. From the point of view of skills, students will have the summary of how to search information’s in public-approachable information resources, paid databases – competitive intelligence, how to make the mind-maps, structure and building the experts systems applications.

Summary
The subject describes the basic terms of knowledge management, of knowledge
society and of information process. The subject is focused to master the
methods and approaches from the following areas: the information acquiring and
processing, preparation of literature, presentation, records and acquiring of
knowledge.

Subject syllabus:
- Basic concepts: data, information, knowledge. Information theory.
- Data sources (primary, secondary). Public (books, magazines, company
promotional materials, mandatory published data, the Internet), semi-public
(research reports, conducted searches), paid (patents, consultants company reports, access to e-databases).
- Intellectual property, patents and licenses (basic concepts, discovery, invention,
copyright model, patent, system, registration, use, license agreement).
- Standards (system, organization, types of standards, creation, utilization).
- Electronic information sources. Database systems. DMS – document management system, CMS - content management system, workflow.
- Techniques for data searching and processing (sorting systems, search techniques,
work with database systems, reporting service-BI).
- Analysis of information. Fact documentation.
- Work with knowledge.
- Branch information resources (economics, management, industry).
- Computer support of libraries.
- Computer support of knowledge management (database of company knowledge, data
mining, expert systems).
