Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Student will be well informed in principles and conceptions used for logistics management of enterprises in automotive industry, will be able to apply tools and methods from purchase logistics, inventory control, and production and distribution logistics.

Determination, goals, essential principles, and development of logistics in automotive industry. Purchase and inventory management. Purchasing process. Traditional inventory control system. Production logistic management. MRP and ERP systems, Just-in-Time, TPS and Lean manufacturing concepts, kanban system, Theory of constraints concept, DBR system.

Subject syllabus:
1. Logistics management - definition, objectives, basic principles, development, and the latest trends of logistics management.
2. Purchase logistics management - definition, types of pruchasing situations, purchasing process, supplier evaluation and selection.
3. Manufacturing logistics management - definition, reasons for its development, logistics solutions in manufacturing, logistics in Czech industrial production, types of production and their impact on logistics.
4. MRP/ERP systems and Theory of Constraints and DBR system - definition, structure and example of utilisation of MRP I system, MRP II, ERP, and APS system, definition of Theory of Constraints, ongoing improvement process, DBR systém and possibilities of its application.
5. Just-in-time concept and Kanban system as main pillars of Lean manufacturing - just-in-time concept definition, comparison of traditional and JIT manufacturing, problems with JIT implementation, JIT implementation, alternative Solutions, Kanban and Milkrun system.
6. Distribution logistics management - definition and reasons of its development, structure of distribution chains, Distribution Requirement Planning, ECR and QR systems.
7. Inventory analysis and control - reasons for holding inventories, inventory costs, inventory classification, methods and recommendations for inventory control.
8. Packaging and handling - definition, packaging and handling units, handling equipment.
9. Warehouse management - definition, warehouse activities and technologies.
10. Transportation and transport - definition, transport segmentation, selection of mode of transport.
