Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

During the studies of the subject a student is supposed to acquire methodical knowledge and skills based on the integrated management concept – from synergy of technical, production, financial and human resource spheres of organization management on one site and from principles of quality, innovation and risk management on the other site. A student should also obtain the necessary information from specific the spheres of project and knowledge management. The subject is the prerequisite for the efficient managerial performace in the practice, especially in industrial and business organizations with the emphasis on the strategical and project management – based on the knowledge corresponding with globalised economic environment

Summary

Basic management definitions, development of management theories and their influence on contemporary management practice, system view of control. Management of human resource, process control, management of organization. Development of manager’s personality: managerial functions, communication skills, problem solution, managerial technics, work with information and knowledge, computer skills and related disciplines. Present development trends in theory and practice of management. Role of consultancy in management.

Subject syllabus:

Basic definitions. - Development of management theories: classic, behavioural, scientific, empiric; their influence on today’s managerial practices. - System and cybernetic view at management. - Personal management: self-image, career, time management, stress resistance, communication skills, management of information and knowledge. - Human resource management: sequence managerial functions, personnel management, management of changes. - Process management: operational control of production, logistic control, project management, information management, integrated evaluation. - Organizational management: strategic control, integrated management, crisis management. - Development of manager’s personality: parallel managerial functions, managerial techniques, dealing with information and knowledge, PC skills. - Current development trends in managerial practice and theory. - Role of consultancy in management.
