Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Students will be able to define the basic functions and role of the Czech national bank and other commercial banks.
Students will become familiar with the management of bank assets and liabilities.
Students will be able to describe the principles of bank transactions and credit risks.
Students will be able to describe the bank credit products and financial hedging banks.
Students will become familiar with the products of banks and deposit payments.
Students will be able to analyze and explain the foreign exchange operations of banks - forwards, swaps and options.
Students will also learn about banking on international level.

Summary
Banks have many specific features compared to industrial companies such as their status and overall importance in the economy. The course content involves definition of banking concepts and the importance and role of banks, functions of the central bank, the banking system, characteristics of bank products

Subject syllabus:
Definition of the bank. Central bank. The legal status of banks - the Act on Czech National Bank and the Banking Act.
Instruments of monetary policy. The role of banks in a market economy. The position of banks in the circulation of money in the national economy. Banking regulation and supervision (tasks and tools).
Commercial Bank. Banks' balance sheets. Active and passive activities of the Bank. Basic principles of banking transactions. Specific types of banking transactions - factoring, forfeiting, financial leasing,securitization. Other business of banks, foreign exchange market operations, foreign exchange transactions, transactions in derivatives. Types of banks, specialized banks.
