Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student will well informed in principles and conceptions using for operative, tactical and strategic operations management, will be able to analyses, evaluate, design and improve production processes, use methods and tools of the production planning and control, capacity planning and inventory control in production processes.

Summary

The subject is focused on the management of production processes using advanced managerial decision-making tools. Sub-sections are devoted to modern tools, methods and concepts for managing and optimizing production systems at all managerial levels. The orientation is also focused on the use of tools based on fuzzy logic, genetic algorithms and neural networks in the production control process.

Subject syllabus:

• Management of production processes - goals, principles, main and supporting activities. • System pull and push - basic principles, goals, methods. • Management levels (strategic, tactical, operational) - methods, tools, links. • MRP, MRP II, JIT, Kanban, DBR, OPT, TOC, Reengineering. • More efficient production process. The concept of productivity. • Tool design manufacturing processes and their applications. • Tasks and objectives of production management. Management levels (strategic, tactical, operational). Deciding on the production: the creation of prerequisites (hardware) - Production capacity and conditions for its use, self-management (software) - Indicators economic efficiency. • Management staff. Determination of the needs of workers. The selection and placement workers. Remuneration and other forms of stimulation of workers. Increasing qualifications. Working conditions. • Quality of products and processes. The four stages of quality. Areas of influence and quality management: organization, systems, measurement tools, the target company development, suppliers, manufacturing processes, support services staff. • Ability to operate manufacturing equipment. Economics of production uptime equipment. • Organization and maintenance management. Maintenance Systems. • Methods of raising reliability of components, nodes, production lines. • Lean manufacturing. • Specifics of the production processes: metallurgy, machinery, metal forming, power.
