Student will be well informed in principles and conceptions used for logistics management of industrial enterprises and chains, will be able to analyse, evaluate, design, and improve processes from purchase logistics, to production and distribution logistics.

Industrial logistics determination, goals, essential principles, and development. Production logistic management. Logistics in various types of production. Approaches, methods and tools for production logistics management. Distribution logistics management. Reasons of rise and structure of distribution chains in industry. Methods and tools for distribution logistics management.

Subject syllabus:

1. Definition of logistics management - definition, logistics management objectives, optimal vs. real logistics services level, ways of company competitiveness increasing through logistics management, basic principles of logistics management. 2. Logistics management development - physical distribution, integrated logistics management, supply chain management, lean, demand, agile and resilient supply chain management. 3. Industrial logistics management - definition, reasons for development, logistics in Czech industrial production. 4. Purchase logistics management - definition, purchase situations, purchasing process, supplier evaluation and selection. 5. Inventory control - reasons for holding inventories, inventory costs, inventory classification, mathematical inventory control methods, Economics Order Quantity model, safety stock. 6. Production logistics management - definition, types of production and their impact on logistics, logistics solutions in production. 7. MRP systems – definitions, material requirements planning, closed-loop MRP, manufacturing resource planning, enterprise resource planning, supply chain planning. 8. Just-in-time concept - Toyota Production System, lean logistics, just-in-time, just-in-sequence, one-piece flow, poka yoke, TQM, 5S, TPM, SMED, manufacturing cells, system of guaranteed suppliers, kanban system. 9. Theory of constraints - bottlenecks, five focusing steps for ongoing improvement, actions for better utilization of capacity bottlenecks, DBR system. 10. Distribution logistics management - reasons of creation and structure of distribution chains, DRP, ECR, QR, CPFR concepts and systems, distribution a logistics centres. 11. Warehousing control - importance and functions of warehousing, warehousing, warehouse activities and technologies, warehouse planning and design, types of warehouses, cross-docking. 12. Material handling and packaging - material handling principles, handling units and equipment, logistics functions and types of packages, automatic identification systems. 13. Transportation - main types of transportation and their characterisation, type of transport and transporter selection. 14. Invited speech from the field of logistics management in an industrial enterprise or supply chain.
