Students will understand the modern methods of managerial decision making, which can be used in industrial processes and systems. They will be able to formulate and analyse problems, to define permissible variations, to choose and apply the appropriate approach to its solution.

• The exact elements in decision-making operational and strategic management of industrial systems.
• Classification of decision-making processes and problems solving methodology of decision-making problems.
• Styles of managerial decision making, group versus the consensus decision-making.
• Methods of Operations Research for managerial decision making.
• Mathematical programming as a tool for optimizing decision-making processes.
• Structural analysis, Leontief‘s material and value production and consumption models.
• Network analysis, critical path method, PERT method.
• Simulation approaches for modelling industrial systems, computer simulation.
• Queuing theory, renewal theory, game and strategic behaviour theory.
• Transport problems, sequencing problems, models for inventory management.
• Multi-criteria decision making, creating variations, selection of criteria, methods for determining weights and multi-criteria evaluation of alternatives.
• The rules, methods and tools of decision making under risk and uncertainty.
• Methods of artificial intelligence, fuzzy logic, artificial neural networks, genetic algorithms, chaos theory.
