Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Upon completion of this course, students should obtain knowledge and skills from different areas of project management, which are necessary for their full integration into project teams, or their leadership. Educational areas include principles, methods, techniques, and tools of project management focused primarily on managing the projects in the environment of industrial enterprises. Skills section of the course is focused on mastering the initiating and planning processes through the project plan preparation.

Summary

Definitions, basic principles, roles and links of projects and project management. World standards for project management. Project management process groups (initiation, planning, executing, monitoring and control, closing). Basic outcomes of project planning (WBS, schedule, budget). Tools for creating individual outputs. Specifics of project management in industrial enterprises.

Subject syllabus:

1. Definition of project management - definition, objectives, basic principles, integration into the management of industrial enterprise. 2. Basic principles of the world standards for project management with an emphasis on process management according to the PMI standard. 3. Project Management Processes - classification of project management processes. 4. Initiating processes - project creation, project charter elaboration, identification of stakeholders. 5. Basic planning project processes - scope planning, WBS. 6. Basic planning project processes - time planning, schedule. 7. Basic planning project processes - cost planning, budget. 8. Supporting planning project processes - planning of communication, procurement, human resources. 9. Supporting planning project processes - risks, quality, stakeholders. 10. Project implementation, control and termination processes - defining and analyzing basic processes from a given areas. 11. Basic principles of agile project management. 12. Selected methodologies of agile project management - SCRUM, KANBAN
