Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The student will be able to define basic relations of economic management of an industrial enterprise. The student will be able to use his/her theoretical knowledge to assess the financial situation and the health of the company in connection with the specifics of metallurgical, mechanical and chemical production.

Summary

The course provides students with basic knowledge of the economic management of an industrial enterprise, it is focused on the understanding of concepts and relationships in corporate economic management. The explanation is concentrated on the economic and financial management of the company with a focus on the specifics of metallurgical, mechanical and chemical production. It also contains the basics of enterprise management and application of management principles in various areas of the enterprise.

Subject syllabus:

1. The legal framework for business. 2. Organizational forms of business. 3. Basic Financial Statements - Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss Statement, cash flow. 4. Economic management and specifics of the manufacturing industry. 5. The capital and property structure of enterprises focused on the manufacturing industry. 6. Financing of industrial enterprises with regard to their specifics. 7. Economics and efficiency of enterprises focused on the manufacturing industry. 8. Objectives, functions and activities of an industrial enterprise. 9. Calculation of the production capacity - time funds, utilization of production capacities. 10. Time and risk factor in financial management and evaluation. 11 Time value of money, cash flow of investment projects with respect to the specifics of the manufacturing industry. 12. Life cycle of an industrial enterprise. 13. Business management and managerial functions. 14. Applying management principles in various business areas.
