Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
- The course introduces the principles of the use refractory materials , design and construction lining furnaces and equipment in metallurgy and engineering, driers and kilns in the ceramics industry, glass furnaces, kilns in the chemical industry and heating equipment in Energy industry
- Characterized by specific types of lining furnaces and heating equipment with regard to manufacturing technology in their ongoing
- In the course students get acquainted with conditions in the analysis phase
refractory materials and in contact with corosion refractory materials with chemical, mechanical and thermal stresses lining
- The course is also familiar with the technology of making lining and unshape materials, technologies and methods of repair increasing lining life

Summary
Classification of refractory and ceramic materials. Properties of refractory
and ceramic materials and their testing. Raw materials for refractory and
ceramic products. Technology of refractories and ceramics production.
Refractory materials. Shaped refractory products: silica, alumina, magnesite,
zirconium silicate, SiC, carbon and special,refractory castable materials.
Unshaped refractory products with hydraulic, chemical and ceramic binders.
