Teaching methods

Summary

Basic materials and systems, their thermal behaviour. The glass technology: properties of molten glasses (transformation, viscosity, crystallisation), mechanism of glass melting processes, production of industrial glasses, the main types of commercial glasses, their properties. Glass-ceramic materials. Technological principles of ceramic production (preparation of ceramic mixtures, rheology of materials - forming, drying, firing). Ceramics on basis of clay raw materials (china, half-porcelain, earthenware, stoneware, bricks).

Subject syllabus:

Základní látky a systémy, jejich termické chování. Technologie skla: vlastnosti sklovin (transformace, viskozita, krystalizace), procesy při tavení skla, výroba průmyslových skel, hlavní typy, vlastnosti. Sklokeramické materiály. Technologické principy výroby keramiky (úprava surovin, reologie hmot - tvarování, sušení, výpal). Keramika na bázi jílových surovin (porcelán, poloporcelán, pórovina, kamenina, cihlářské zboží).
