Student will be able -classify power engineering sources, - classify power engineering equipment, - solve simple tasks of transfer of heat energy, - apply the knowledge on furnace equipment.

Subjekt is focused on acquiring a more high and extent knowledge about both conventional and unconventional fuele, development of heat power, dispose of heat power in various type of power generating and/or consuming equipments. It is a purpose to point out to the wider connections between development of power. and practical energy utilization.

Subject syllabus:

Energy situation in the world and in our country, energy sources, fuels and their properties. Fuels combustion, waste gases amount and composition, combustion air consumption, excess-air coefficient Combustion control, analytical and graphical methods, practical measurements. Combustion temperatures, types of combustion temperatures. Methods of determination. Using the values obtained. Pyrometric effect. Heating of fuel in the absence of air. Heat transfer in the furnaces working enclosure. External and internal heat transfer. External heat transfer equations. Development of thermal balance. Determination of the convection component. Determination of radiation component. External heat transfer coefficient. Formulas for the external heat transfer coefficient calculation. Internal heat transfer. Heating of thin and thick bodies . External and internal thermal resistance. Determination of Bi criterion. Thin and thick bodies. Subdivision of industrial furnaces and characteristics of each type. Division factors . Thermal characteristics. Heat exchangers, thermal and hydraulic calculation. Recuperator, regenerator. Types of flow in the exchanger. Determination of heat transfer surface. Average logarithmic temperature gradient. The heat transfer coefficient. Thermal efficiency, temperature of the wall. Secondary energy sources. Individual species. Possibilities of use. Power and heat balance. Individual items and their determination. Practice Gross and low calorific value. Combustion conditions, determination of the amount and composition of combustion products. Analytical and graphical control of combustion. Heat balance of the system. Types of combustion temperatures, the adiabatic, theoretical, and actual combustion temperature calculation. Dynamic price of fuel. The resulting heat flux to charge, determining of the heating time, determining temperature at the end of heating, heat exchanger design, calculation of heat transfer surface of the heat exchanger.
