Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student will be able - classify power engineering sources, - explain use of various power engineering sources, - explain economic relations of use of fuels, - classify load of environment as a result of extraction and use of power engineering sources.

Summary

Subject is focused on energy sources. Fuel basis, structure, properties, assessing, and interchangeability are evaluated respectively. There are describe secondary energy sources, renewable source, emission loading togther with energy processes. The intention is to show the relation between energy generation and its use.

Subject syllabus:

Energy resources, distribution, characteristics. The structure of energy sources the CR, EU, OECD, worldwide. Fossil fuels, basic properties. Gross and low calorific value. Chemical composition. Combustion temperatures, individual types and their evaluation. Pre-heating of fuels, thermally stable vs. non-stable fuel. Classification of combustion. Determination of coefficient of excess air. The amount and composition of the combustion products. Gasification, liquefaction, carbonization of fuels - a review. Generators. The generator gas. The economic context of fuel use. Valuation of fuel. Dynamic price of fuel. Coefficient of fuel usage. Increasing of the fuel efficiency coefficient. Secondary energy sources. Individual species. Possibilities of use. Technical and technological parameters of the fuels. Renewable sources, characteristics, possibilities of utilization. Hydropower. Wind energy. Solar energy. Assessment from the viewpoint of the Czech Republic. Creation and protection of the environment in the acquisition and utilization of energy resources. The individual types of emissions. Influence of energy mix. Options of avoiding of emissions formation. Removal of the basic types of emissions. Praktice Basic fuel properties, gross and low calorific value, combustion conditions, the quantity and composition of the combustion products - the practical calculations, the control of combustion - combustion triangles, determining of combustion temperatures, coefficient of fuel use, fuel gasification, gasification efficiency, quantity and low calorific value of gas generated.
