- to understand a function of coputer parts and systém software
- to understand the principle of information storage in computers
- to examine data correctsness
- to find and validate a regression model
- process and analyze time series
- to undestand theory of databases and usage for measured data analysis
- the student will know the formal and stylistic principles of writing technical reports

Summary
Basic concepts of PC hardware and software. Usage of spreadsheets for measured
data processing. Numeric derivative, integrating and filtering of time series,
removing d.c. component, trend and outlying values. Mathematical, statistical,
logical and searching functions. Regression analysis. Basics of databases,
usage of database functions. Fundamentals of macros and object oriented
programming. Formal, stylistic and technical requirements on writing technical
report and final thesis.

Practical solving problems:
- creation of regression model
- interpolation of data by Lagrange interpolation polynomial
- trend removal of time series
- fitration, derivation and integration of time series

3. The principle of storing characters and numbers in a computers
4. The principle of saving graphics
5. Foundations of regression analysis

9. Time series – sampling, filtration, derivation, integration
10. The basic concepts of the theory of signals, Fourier transformation
11. Use the database for the measurement and data processing
12. Principle of object programming, the Excel macros
