Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student will be able to: *analyse heat transfer and heat flux balance in work space of heating furnaces, *describe convection, radiation and conduction and solve simple cases of convective and radiative heat transfer in heating furnaces, *describe and justify heating/heat treatment technology fundamentals, *analyse and solve basic heating regimes of thick bodies and thermal work of fundamental heating furnaces.

Summary

Drying, heating and melting of materials as a part of industrial technologies. Thermal and temperature regimes of technology. Thermal and physical properties of materials. Heat transfer in working area of furnaces. The temperature of furnace. External and internal transfer of heat. Balance of heat transfer rate in the lining - flame - charge system. Solving methods for heating and cooling processes. Technological principles of heating. Basic regimes of heating, application for multiphase regimes of heating.

Subject syllabus:

Drying, firing, heating and melting of material technology. Thermal and temperature regimes. Heated material properties. Heat transfer in furnace work space. Furnace operating temperature. Convection, radiation and conduction. Heat flux in system furnace brickwork-flame-batch. Solving methods for heating/cooling. Heating technology fundamentals. Heating regimes, application for multi-stage regimes.
