- student will be able to formulate basic principles of composite effects
- student will be able to characterise types of materials for the matrix and reinforced phases and methods for their preparation
- student will be able to explain interaction between matrix and reinforced phases, influences on composite materials properties
- student will be able to describe the technology of composites and to acquiant with specific applications of composites

Summary
The course explains basic principles of composite effects, differents between traditional and composite materials, advantages and disadvantages of their use.
The course presents the overview of types of materials used for matrix and reinforcing phases preparation.
The subject also discussed the technology of composite and reinforcing phases preparation, interaction between matrix and reinforcing phases and influences on composites properties.
There are also present fields of the use of composites and principles of materials choice for specific application.

1. Composites such as a technical materials - definiton, composition.
2. Composites classification, basic types and their characteristics.
3. Types of matrix and reinforcing phases, their interaction, geometric and physical structures.
4. Structural classification of composites.
5. The choice of materials, production problems.
6. Production of composites, fiber production and their adjustment.
7. Metal matrix composites.
8. Composites based on macromolecular materials - plastics, resins.
9. Ceramic matrix composites, ceramic coatings.
10. Glass matrix composites, special glass matrix composites.
11. Composites based on inorganic binders - mortars, concretes.
12. Cement composites - castables.
13. Foams.
14. Examples of the use of the composites - changes in construction, automobiles, and other.

1. Influence of individual components cooperation to composite quality.
2. Choice of materials, problems of fibres and composites manufacture.
