Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Deepen students' knowledge acquired in previous studies in the theory of combustion, its application in the design of burners and combustion equipment. Emphasis is directed to a method of ensuring knowledge of thermodynamic conditions for complete combustion through the technical parameters of burners and combustion modes.

Prohloubit znalosti studentů získané v předchozím studiu v oblasti teorie hoření, její aplikace v konstrukci hořáků a spalovacích zařízení. Důraz je směřován na znalosti způsobu zajištění termodynamických podmínek pro dokonalé spalování prostřednictvím technických parametrů hořáků a spalovacích režimů.

Subject syllabus:

1. Basic theory of combustion: combustion conditions and combustion such as physico-chemical process governed by the laws of thermodynamics. 2. Diffusion and kinetic combustion area. Chemical kinetics of combustion, the basic principles, the influence of temperature, concentration and pressure of the reaction rate. 3. Chain reactions, heat transfer in flames, and other physical parameters influencing the combustion reaction. 4. Conditions of of primary activation, ignition and combustion of gaseous mixtures. 5. Ignition temperature, flammability limits, and their dependence on temperature and pressure. 6. The active mechanism of catalysts, inhibitors, inert gas and oxygen enrichment of the combustion air to the ignition and combustion. 7. Stabilization front combustion in laminar and turbulent flow. 8. The activation energy, the influence of the size of the primary activation, ignition and combustion of the mixture. 9. Combustion and flame structure of gaseous, liquid and solid fuels. 10. Flame stabilization and perfection mixture burnout. 11. Basic design of burners, their classification and types. 12. Properties and flame shape in terms of burning conditions and technological requirements. Flameless combustion. Heating systems and their application in practice. 13. Principles of function, advantages and shortcomings of the basic types of burners and combustion application of thermodynamic conditions in the construction of the basic types of burners. 14. Ratio and power regulatory limits burners, principles for designing heating systems in terms of energy efficiency, ecology and economy.
