- student will be able to characterize the basic concepts of refractory materials
- student will be able to formulate the basic physico-chemical processes in the high temperature selected processes
- student will be able to describe the possibilities of modern technology for the production of refractory materials

Summary
Classification of refractory materials. Properties of refractory materials and
their testing. Raw materials for refractory and ceramic products.
Classification of raw materials in accordance to chemical and mineralogical
composition. Characteristics of individual groups. Technology of refractory
materials production. Shaped refractory products: silica, alumina, magnesite,
chrome-magnesite, zirconium silicate, SiC, carbon and special. Unshaped
refractory products with hydraulic, chemical and ceramic binder.
