Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

- student will be able to characterize the basic concepts of refractory materials - student will be able to formulate the basic physico-chemical processes in the high temperature selected processes - student will be able to describe the possibilities of modern technology for the production of refractory materials

Teaching methods

Classification of refractory materials. Properties of refractory materials and their testing. Raw materials for refractory and ceramic products. Classification of raw materials in accordance to chemical and mineralogical composition. Characteristics of individual groups. Technology of refractory materials production. Shaped refractory products: silica, alumina, magnesite, chrome-magnesite, zirconium silicate, SiC, carbon and special. Unshaped refractory products with hydraulic, chemical and ceramic binder.
