Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Extend students' knowledge obtained on field of ceramics materials. Emphasis is put on description and identification of structure of ceramics materials and understanding of relationship between structure, chemical and phase composition and properties.

Summary
Předmět definuje keramické materiály, jejich strukturu a metody strukturní analýzy. Zvláštní pozornost je věnovaná metodám fázové analýzy. V rámci předmětu se definuje souvislost mezi strukturou keramických materiálů a vlastnostmi, které tyto materiály vykazují. Výuka předmětu je blíže orientovaná do oblastí souvisejících s tématem doktorské práce studenta.

Subject syllabus:
Principle and definition of ceramic and glass materials. Emphasis of main differences between crystalline and glass phases. Methods of structural analysis of ceramic materials - optical microscopy, electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance. Monitoring of structural changes of ceramic materials in the course of hydration or during of thermal treatment (calorimetry, thermal analysis). The identification of the phase composition of ceramic materials, methods, XRD, and SEM. The definition and method of measuring the basic properties of ceramic materials - density, bulk density, water absorption, porosity, granulometry and rheology of ceramic systems. Mechanical and thermal properties of ceramic materials. Prediction of properties of ceramic materials based on structural and phase analysis.
