Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Extend students' knowledge in field fundamental kinds of inorganic binders, their prepare, measurement and apllication. Special binders systems their advantages and their using. The alternative binders systems on the base latent hydraulic substances.

Summary
The subject defines inorganic bonding systems, both hydraulic and air as well. Student is acquainted with issues of evaluating the suitability of raw materials for preparation of define materials. Student also get to know technology of their manufacturing and study processes of their solidifying and hardening. Attention is paid to geopolymers. Subject contain part about castable systems.

Subject syllabus:
General characteristics of inorganic binders, hardening processes of systems, systematics of these binders.
Air binders - their types, properties. Plaster and calcium binders.
Hydraulic binders - cements. Main types and applications.
Portland clinker – calculation of composition of raw material mixture, the mechanism and kinetics of clinker production technology. Phase composition of Portland clinker. Types of Portland cement, properties and testing.
The processes of hydration and hydraulic hardening, possibilities of influencing these processes.
Special cements, blended cements, low-energy cements, advantages and applications.
Alternative binders based on latent hydraulic substances, use of secondary raw materials.
Castables.
