Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Aplikovat, kombinovat a syntetizovat poznatky z přirodovědných a technických předmětů v rámci komplexního oboru koroze a ochrana materiálu. Rozšířit a prohloubit poznatky z předmětu základy koroze kovů. Poznat a integrovat základní způsoby protikorozní ochrany, hlavně volbou materiálu a úpravami povrchu, včetně využití moderních technologií. Získat přehled o zkoušení,monitorování a hodnocení koroze i protikorozní ochrany.

Teaching methods

Summary

Definition of corrosion - chemical and electrochemical corrosion. Reaction between a metal surface and gases - oxidation, hydrogen influence, nitridation, sulfidisation, carburisation, carbonyl corrosion. Consequences of corrosion - technical, economical, accidents, cost and maintenance. Nature of the corrosion reactions, corrosion products - passivity, transpassivity. Forms of corrosion - general (uniform) localized, pitting and crevice corrosion, galvanic attack, intergranular corrosion, knife-line attack, stress corrosion cracking, fatigue corrosion, dealloying attack, exfoliation, fretting, erosion and cavitation. Corrosion control - corrosion resistance materials, design modification, application of coatings, change of environment, intervention in the reactions - cathodic and anodic protections. Changes the procedures - start-up, shut-down, inspection, monitoring, maintenance. Corrosion prevention - analysis and diagnosis of damage - initiation of the corrosion control at the design stage of the system.
