Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The students will get the basic idea about the solutions of various industrial problems connected with the failure of building structures and engineering parts or engineering units. For such soulutions, they will aknowledge the basis of fracture mechanics, defectoscopy and testing of materials, including the metallography and fractography. They will be able to design their own way to to find the solution of the problem.

Summary

The analysis and evaluation of problems connected with the catastrophic failure of building structures or engineering structures will be aknowledge to the students. In the framework of study the students will get the basic knowledge of fracture mechanics, defectoscopy and testing of materials to analyse the problems. Some cases occurring during the last century will be described and the development of such problems including the final successfull solutions will conclude the problems.
