Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

- student will be able to describe methods of joining, evaluate and determine the weldability of materials, characterize the structure and properties of welded joints - student will be able to clarify the choice of connections, describe criteria for selecting technology for joining, especially welding, evaluate properties of joints - formulate basic methods and parameters for machining, assess or select a machining material, to know special methods of joining and machining

Teaching methods

Experimental work in labs

Overview of joining and cutting. Methods for determining the weldability. Arc welding method and its implementation. Submerged arc welding and ways of using it. Electroslag welding and ways of performing. Methods surfacing (welding). Heat treatment of welds after welding. Evaluation of defectiveness and diagnostics of joints. Soft and hard soldering. Bonded joints, advantages and disadvantages. Machining methods of metallic surfaces. Effects of machining parameters on the surface quality and tension. Materials for machining.
