Teaching methods

Summary

Metals, their properties, technical classification, sources of raw materials for nonferrous metals, their processing and preparation of concentrates. Characteristics of pyrometallurgical, hydrometallurgical and electrometallurgical procedures for processing of nonferrous metals. Pyrometallurgical production processes (dissociation, calcination, reduction, melting, Elingham’s and Kellog’s diagrams) and refining of metals, electrolysis of water solutions and melts. Bases of processes for production of heavy, light, noble, high-melting, radioactive metals and rare earth elements. Alloys of nonferrous metals, their production, properties and technical application. Economic and environmental aspects of recycling processes.

Subject syllabus:

Kovy, jejich vlastnosti, technické roztřídění, surovinové zdroje neželezných kovů, jejich úprava a příprava koncentrátů. Charakteristika pyrometalurgických, hydrometalurgických a elektrometalurgických postupů zpracování neželezných kovů. Pyrometalurgické procesy výroby (disociace, pražení, redukce, tavení, Elinghamovy a Kellogovy diagramy) a rafinace kovů, elektrolýza vodných roztoků a tavenin. Základy procesů výroby těžkých, lehkých, ušlechtilých, vysokotavitelných, radioaktivních kovů a kovů vzácných zemin. Slitiny neželezných kovů, jejich výroba, vlastnosti a technická aplikace. Ekonomické a ekologické aspekty recyklačních procesů.
