Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student after passing the exam from this subject will be able to: - explain fundamentals of nuclear reactions leading to processes of nuclear fission - evaluate possibilities of development of power from individual sources, including their assessment and comparison - evaluate, or predict physical, mechanical and nuclear properties of materials for individual components of nuclear reactor - design and optimise production processes for individual groups of materials for nuclear reactor - evaluate materials requirements for specific applications and modify them by alloying, or by thermal-mechanical treatment - evaluate and assess influence of nuclear radiation on properties of materials for nuclear reactors

Summary

Students get acquainted with basic requirements to materials used in nuclear engineering. These are particularly individual materials used at construction of nuclear reactors. Discussion is aimed at importance of nuclear purity and methods of its assurance in individual types of materials, particularly in coating and fissile materials.
