Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student after passing the exam from this subject will be able to: - understand significance and methods of simulation and control of technological processes in the area of metallurgy of non-ferrous metals and special materials. - apply theory of automatic and optimum control, identification, mathematical modelling and simulation. - use possibilities of collection, transfer and processing of information in materials engineering of non-ferrous metals, refining and recycling. - use computing technologies for direct and indirect control of technological processes in metallurgy of non-ferrous metals. - model and simulate crystallisation processes and refining of metals and semi-conductors, solve diffusion processes and creation of thin layers by epitaxy. - optimise properties of metals and their alloys after thermal-mechanical treatment. - apply material software in teaching and research (programs HSC, TAPP, MAT.DB, heat treatment of low-alloyed alloys, prediction of properties). - create and apply database systems for simulation of production. - describe basic functions of regulation circuit, global method of adjustment, PID regulator - apply characteristic equation for the circuit - define signals and their transformation in digital regulation circuit - characterise possibilities of enhancement of stability of regulation circuit

Summary

The objective of this subject is to familiarise the students with methods of simulation and control of technological processes in metallurgy of nonferrous metals and special materials. Main themes of lectures: theory of automatic and optimum control, identification, mathematical modelling and simulation. Collection, transfer and processing of information. Materials engineering of nonferrous metals, refining and recycling. Use computing technologies for direct and indirect control of technological processes in metallurgy of nonferrous metals. Modelling and simulation of crystallisation processes and refining of metals and semiconductors, solution of diffusion processes. Optimisation of properties of metals and their alloys after thermo-mechanical treatment. Application of material software in teaching and research (programs HSC, TAPP, MAT.DB, heat treatment of low-alloyed alloys, prediction of properties). Creation and application of database systems for simulation of production.

Subject syllabus:

Theory of the automatic and optimal control, mathematic modelling and simulation. Technical resources of automated control systems in industrial processes. Demands on the projection and simulation. Types and forms of signals and their transmission. Sensors. Transmission and adjustment of informations. Unification of signals. A/D inverters, multiplexors. Application of control computers in industrial processes. Characteristic equation of the controlling system. Standard types of regulation functions. Global methods of the adjusting, relative absorbing. Stability of the controlling system. Discrete controllers, regulators with optimized structure. Direct and indirect proceedings in technological processes. Modelling and simlulation of crystallization processes. Optimizing of properties of metals and their alloys. Production and application database systems for simulation of manufacturing. Application of material software in education and research (programs HSC, TAPP, MAT.DB, prediction of properties).
