Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Student after passing the exam from this subject will gain the following abilities:
- describe basic raw material sources of nonferrous metals, primary and secondary sources
- characterise raw material base of Czech Republic and describe individual companies
- define ores for nonferrous metals, their metal content and possibilities of enrichment
- define secondary sources of raw materials containing nonferrous metals
- classify waste of nonferrous metals from the viewpoint of their production
- describe and compare dressing of primary and secondary raw material sources for nonferrous metals
- explain and compare processes of crushing and milling or primary and secondary raw materials
- characterise sorting procedures for primary raw materials
- describe and subsequently compare separation processes, static and dynamicgravitation,
- describe and differentiate magnetic and electrical separation processes
- characterise flotation, interpret Young’s equation
- define flotation concentrates, describe technology of flotation process
- present auxiliary dressing procedures, interpret procedures of filtration and thickening
- describe drying processes and explain their significance for dressing processes
- characterise specific method of treatment of selected types of waste from nonferrous metals
- compare specific methods of treatment of waste with treatment of primary sources
- explore economic data of pure nonferrous metals and waste from nonferrous metals

Subject syllabus:
• Non-ferrous metal ores, metal content and enrichment opportunities. Technical metal sorting, purity metals. Raw material base CR.
• Modification of primary non-ferrous metals. Theory of crushing, grinding, classification. Basic units for crushing, grinding and classification.
• Separating processes, static and dynamic gravity, the basic units
• Separating processes of magnetic and electric, basic units
• Flotation, the theory of the flotation process, flotation concentrate, the flotation process technology.
• The other finishing processes, thickening
• Filtration and drying filters, drying ovens
• Types and properties of iron ores
• Theoretical foundations of iron ore sintering
• Thermal sintering of the process
• Gas dynamic page sintering processes
• Fundamentals of materials folding fine grained
• Pelletizing, iron ore briquetting
• Ecological aspects of the production of sinter
