Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student after passing the exam from this subject will gain the following abilities: - describe basic raw material sources of nonferrous metals, primary and secondary sources - characterise raw material base of Czech Republic and describe individual companies - define ores for nonferrous metals, their metal content and possibilities of enrichment - define secondary sources of raw materials containing nonferrous metals - classify waste of nonferrous metals from the viewpoint of their production - describe and compare dressing of primary and secondary raw material sources for nonferrous metals - explain and compare processes of crushing and milling or primary and secondary raw materials - characterise sorting procedures for primary raw materials - describe and subsequently compare separation processes, static and dynamicgravitation, - describe and differentiate magnetic and electrical separation processes - characterise flotation, interpret Young’s equation - define flotation concentrates, describe technology of flotation process - present auxiliary dressing procedures, interpret procedures of filtration and thickening - describe drying processes and explain their significance for dressing processes - characterise specific method of treatment of selected types of waste from nonferrous metals - compare specific methods of treatment of waste with treatment of primary sources - explore economic data of pure nonferrous metals and waste from nonferrous metals
