Summary

Subject deals with materials used in orthodontics, orthopedics, traumatology, cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery and neurology, with basic features of biocompatibility and bioactivity and with the history of applications. Materials are classified as metallic, ceramic, polymer and composite. Basic features, mechanical and corrosion properties will be discussed.

Subject syllabus:

1. Úvod do materiálů pro aplikace v biomedicíně, základní charakteristiky biokompatibility, historie aplikací a přehled používaných materiálů. 2. Materiály v ortodoncii, ortopedii, traumatologii, kardiovaskulární medicíně, neurochirurgii a neurologii. 3. Biokompatibilní kovové materiály, aplikace, třídy materiálů, mechanické vlastnosti, korozní vlastnosti, povrchové zpracování a ochrana proti korozi.. 4. Keramické materiály a povlaky pro implantáty. 5. Materiály polymerní přírodní a syntetické, základní charakteristiky, přehled materiálů. Gely.
