Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student after passing the exam from this subject will gain the following abilities: - Describe treatment of plastic materials,used tyres, radio-active non-metallic materials after their utilisation. - Classify the plastic materials according to their origin, initial raw materials and physical- chemical properties, make an overview of manufacturing procedures for production of selected plastic materials (PE, PET, PVC), - Characterise sorting of plastic materials, methods of betterment of plastic waste, describe destructive and non-destructive methods, treatment methods, use of plastic materials in industry. - Describe tyres, their segmentation, construction, basic raw materials, extent of use. - Characterise recycling of tyres, treatment procedures and units, destructive and non-destructive methods, use of recycled products. - Make an overview of non-standard methods of processing of selected polymers (bio-degradation). - Describe recycling of radio-active waste.

Summary

Student will acquire and overview of processing of plastic materials, tyres, paper, radio-active non-metallic materials after their utilisation. Plastic materials and their segmentation according to their origin, initial raw materials and physical-chemical properties, manufacturing procedures for production of selected plastic materials (PE, PET, PVC), classification of plastic materials, methods of betterment of plastic waste, destructive and non-destructive methods, treatment methods, use of plastic materials in industry. Tyres, their segmentation, construction, basic raw materials, extent of use, recycling, basic treatment procedures and units, destructive and non-destructive methods, use of recycled products. Recycling of non-metallic radio-active waste. Environment and destructive technologies. Non-standard methods for processing of selected polymers.

Mandatory attendence participation: Preparation of a one-semester work in the range of about 10-15 pages on the chosen topic from the field of recycling non-metallic materials, semestral work is repaired by the teacher within 14 days of the student's submission. The results are communicated to students by e-mail, if necessary, personal consultations take place. Passing the credit test - with the results, the students are acquainted immediately with passing and repairing the tests.
