To understand current perception of quality. To learn about basic principles, concepts and directions of quality management. To clarify the ISO 9000 family of standards and the TQM concept. To apply basic quality management tools and methods. To understand economic consecventions of quality management.

Summary

Basic principles and concepts of advanced quality management. The ISO 9000 family of standards concepts and TQM concept. Economic considerations related to quality management. Application of basic methods and tools of quality management at products design and development, realization and delivering. Quality management at purchasing. Systems measurements within quality management systems (customer satisfaction measurement, benchmarkind etc.) Auditing at quality management systems. Approaches, methods and tools of continuous improvement. Development trends within quality management systems - the excellence models and their use. Integrated management systems.

Subject syllabus:

- Quality Management Systems (QMS) as a part of total company management system. - Fundamentals of quality management, including terms. -Basic concepts and approaches to quality management- the ISO concepts, the branch standard concept, TQM concept. - Documentation control. Quality management as trilogy of quality planning, quality assurance and quality improvement. - Top management role at QMS. - Basic methods and tools of quality planning. - Quality at purchasing. Suppliers evaluation and selection. - Quality management at product realization. - Quality related costs. Life cycle costing. - Quality verification and inspection. - Human factor within QMS. - Quality audits. - Quality improvements methodology, methods and tools. - Fundamentals of integrated management systems. -Excellence principles. The EFQM Excellence Model and its use. - Basic methods and tools of quality management
