Summary

The aim of course is to learn the methodological procedures and methods of quality planning. Attention is paid to the modern methodological approaches to product quality planning, requirements of production part approval processes, selected quality planning methods such as QFD, design review, FMEA, FTA, measurement systems analyses, process and machine capability analyses, a group of seven new quality management tools and other specialized methods.

Subject syllabus:

The content and the importance of quality planning. Quality planning according the family of standards ISO 9000. Quality plans, purpose of use. Recommended contents of quality plans according to ISO 10005: 2006. Methodological approaches to product quality planning. Planning of product quality by J.M. Juran. Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP). Control plans and their use. The production part approval process (PPAP). QFD and its use. Basic and advanced variant of the House of Quality. Four- matrices approach. Matrix of Matrices. Design review, objectives, principles, content. FMEA and its application. Product FMEA. Process FMEA. Fault Tree Analysis ( FTA). Process capability analysis, procedure, solution of non-standard situations. Machine capability analysis. Process capability indices and their interpretation. Capability indices sensitivity to changes in the process. The use of capability indices to estimation of the probability of non-conforming products occurrence. Factors affecting the explanatory power of process capability indices. Interval estimation of process capability indices. Process capability analysis in the cases of non-measurable quality characteristics. Statistical properties of measurement systems. Measurement system analysis using indices Cg and Cgk.
