Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student will be well informed in possibilities of computer aided quality management, will be able to apply spreadsheet MS Excel and software Minitab for data processing, to solve selected tasks from quality management field with using MS Excel and Minitab and to interpret obtained results.

Summary

The aim of the course is to learn applications of computer aided quality management. Students will become familiar with selected software and their possibilities and learn to solve problems of quality management with using spreadsheet MS Excel and software Minitab. Emphasis is put on the correctness of the solution procedure and the correct interpretation of results.

Subject syllabus:

• The importance of computer aid in the field of quality management. Types of used software. Information systems of quality management. • Specialized software in the field of computer aided quality management. • Spreadsheet Excel and possibilities of its use for quality management tasks solution. • Work with data files, data import and export. Data verification. Data sorting and filtering. • Work with tables. Conditional formatting. Calculations in Excel, use of relative and absolute addresses. • Exploratory data analysis. Graphical presentation of data. • Excel functions and their use in the quality management. • Excel analytical tools. • Contingency tables and their use in the quality management. • Processing of special Excel applications. • Selected statistical software and their suitability for solving problems in the field of quality management. • Characteristics of software Minitab and possibilities of its use in quality management. • Working with Minitab worksheets and Minitab projects, data import and export. • The calculations in Minitab, creating new variables. Selected operators and their use in quality management. • Data filtering and sorting. Exploratory data analysis. • Hypothesis Testing in Minitab (testing normality, goodness of fit tests, t -test, F -test). • Regression and correlation analysis in Minitab. • Special tasks in the field of quality management (cause and effect diagram, Pareto analysis, measurement system analysis). • Special tasks in the field of quality management (process capability analysis, statistical process control). • Other special software for various fields of quality management (Statgraphics, QC Expert, Palstat etc.).
