Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
To obtain knowledge about quality management systems principles within various stages of product life cycle. Students will learn to analyse economic impacts of quality management and understand quality management approaches at design and development stage, purchasing as well as at product realization. They also learn about quality management auditing and continuous improvement.

Summary
The subject is oriented on explanation of quality management meaning, principles, processes and basic methods and tools of quality management systems. Basic quality management concepts and procedures of quality management at various stages of product life cycle will be explained too. The attention will be also paid to economic analyses within quality management systems, as well as to their audits and continuous improvement.

Elaboration of 2 team projects.

Lectures:
1. Introduction to integrated management systems (quality, environment, etc.), basic definitions.
2. Basic principles, concepts and approaches of quality management.
3. Normative basis of quality management systems (ISO 9000 series standards), structure of standards, selected requirements and recommendations.
4. Normative basis of environmental management systems (ISO standards series 14000), plague structure, selected requirements and recommendations.
5. EU approaches to quality assurance and conformity assessment, European Union regulation REACH.
6. Documentation management - administrative assurance of quality management systems.
7. Basic processes of quality management.
8. Management at design and development stage. Basic methods and tools of quality planning.
9. Processes of management during product realization.
10. Economic features of quality management. Quality related costs and their measurement.
11. Product verification. Basic forms of quality inspection – meaning and functions. Control of non-conforming products.
12. Fundamentals and procedures of integrated management systems audits.
13. Improvement methodologies. Basic methods and tools of continuous improvement.
14. Development trends in quality management, integration of management systems.
Exercises:
1. Basic methods and tools of quality management (Historgram, Pareto chart, Control chart, Flow chart, Control tables, Ishikawa chart, Point chart).
2. Other selected quality management tools (QFD, FMEA, Process capability analysis, Statistical process control, Network graph, etc.).
3. Process approach in quality management.
4. Applying feedback in quality management systems (customer satisfaction and loyalty).
5. Document and record management procedures.
6. Conformity verification (control) and non-compliance management.
7. Credit test - knowledge verification test.
