Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Assumption of basic conceptions of atom construction, chemical bonds, reaction kinetic and thermodynamic. Learning of interrelationship and connection of these conceptions - periodicity of element properties. Application of knowledge from basic chemistry of element system. Learn working with periodic table - be able deduce basic chemical and physical properties of elements.

Summary

Mass and its properties and structure. Structure of atom. Electron cloud. Basic chemical terms. States of matters. Chemical bond. Energetical changes on chemical reactions. Dispersion systems. Rate and equilibrium of chemical reactions. Electrolytic dissotiation. Oxidation-reduction reaction. Periodic system of elements. Hydrogen, oxygen, water, air. Prevalent properties of non-metal and metal elements and thier compounds. Carbon chemistry. Silicon and its compounds. Lanthanides, actinides.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

After passing the computational part of the exercise, the control test KT1 is inserted. Students hand over their protocols from the laboratory tutorial continuously. In fine of the exercises the control test KT2 is being written. It contains the calculations from the laboratory tutorial.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: Atom construction. Electron shell. Chemical bond. Chemical reactions – kinetics and thermodynamics. Chemical equilibriums. Electrolytic dissolution. Oxidation – reduction reactions and their technical applications, burning. Electrochemistry. Periodic system of elements. Prevalent properties of non-metal and metal elements and their compounds. Carbon chemistry. Silicates. Macromolecular matters. Explosives. Tutorials: Calculations: Chemical nomenclature. Basic chemical terms. Stochiometrics calculations. Ideal gas. Electrolytic dissotiation. Oxidation – reduction reactions. Practical part: Oxidation – reduction reactions. Determination of CaCO3 content in technical calcite. Precipitating reactions. Precipitations of carbonates. Determination of oxygen gram molecule. Precipitations of chromium green.
