Summary

The subject leads to a deeper understanding of how the chemical structure affects the properties and application possibilities of carbonaceous materials. It is focused to elemental forms of carbon, inorganic and organic compounds of carbon and carbonaceous macromolecular substances. It explains the chemistry of pyrolysis processes, combustion, gasification and graphitization of carbonaceous matter. Attention is also paid to modern materials: carbon fibers, composites, sorbents and nanomaterials.
