Gained knowledge: - students will know the basics of modeling physical properties of materials - the student will be oriented in the possibilities of using simulation programs for individual casting processes Obtained skills: - the student will be able to create and process a virtual model including the technological process of production - student will be able to apply methods of computing for casting production

Summary

The course is focused on the use of computer support by simulation of foundry processes, flowing, solidification and cooling of the melts in the form. The simulations are used for verifying production processes and casting quality prediction using MAGMA software.

Subject syllabus:

1. Basic use of computer technology for simulation of casting and solidification of castings 2. Modeling of physical properties of materials including complete computational analysis. 3. Creation and processing of the virtual model including the design of the grid system, technological additions and construction forms 4. Define and define initial and boundary conditions for prototype design and production processes 5. Principle of numerical modeling by simulation software MAGMAsoft. Definition of input conditions, modification of geometric model. 6. Check proposed casting geometry and VS. Identification and prediction of possible defects, elimination of thermal nodes of the casting, solution internal stresses and volume changes. 7. Utilization of simulation programs for special casting technologies - pressure and centrifugal casting, die casting and a vaporizable model, 8. Overview of simulation programs for casting design and construction, simulation of casting properties, their possibilities other applications.
