-Define the importance and classification of engineering materials. -Clarify the effect of steel purity and heat treatment on the high-fracture characteristics. -Define the characteristics of high-strength steels. -Describe principles of corrosion and heat resistence of structural materials. -Compare the technical important types of non-ferrous metals. -Chracterize the basic types of ceramic materials. -Define composite materials.

Direction of development of new materials and special technologies. Basics of fraction mechanics. Evaluation of materials from a safety and reliability point of view. Direction of development of new materials and special technologies. Basics of fraction mechanics. High-strength steels, practical applications. Stainless and heat resistant materials, distribution, practical applications. Refractory materials, creep characteristic, distribution, practical applications. Technically important non-ferrous metals. Technical ceramics, distribution, causes of brittleness, principles of reinforcement, applications. Composite materials, distribution, fiber composites.
