Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

- student will be able to describe and characterize selected types of common waste - student will be able to describe the basic procedures for waste treatment and material sorting, used methods and equipment for treatment and separation, basic recycling technologies for processing selected types of waste and the possibilities of utilization obtained secondary raw materials - the student will be able to evaluate the ecological and economic aspects of waste processing and the use of secondary raw materials - the student will be able to apply his theoretical knowledge for the processing procedures of common types of waste

Summary

Předmět je zaměřen na charakterizaci běžných typů odpadů a možnosti jejich zpracování na druhotné suroviny pomocí vybraných recyklačních technologií. Studenti se v rámci předmětu seznámí se základními pojmy z oblasti odpadového hospodářství a postupy recyklace vybraných typů odpadů, včetně možností využití druhotných surovin. Dále jsou specifikovány metody úpravy odpadů a používané separační technologie. Mezi vybrané typy zpracování běžných odpadů patří odpady na bázi nekovových materiálů – odpadní polymery, sklo, papír, textil a vybrané typy kombinovaných odpadů včetně odpadů obsahujících ušlechtilé a vzácné kovy. Dále jsou charakterizovány odpady na bázi kovových materiálů – odpady hliníku, mědi, železa, zinku, cínu a olova. Nedílnou součástí je i přehled základní legislativy z oblasti odpadového hospodářství, problematika minimalizace tvorby odpadů, cirkulární ekonomika. Na zřetel jsou brána i ekologická a ekonomická hlediska zpracování odpadů a využití druhotných surovin.

Subject syllabus:

Basic terms and definitions – waste, types of waste. Waste management, legislation. Basic possibilities for waste utilization, characteristics of common types of waste. Recycling, basic recycling technologies, secondary raw materials. Treatment of waste and sorting of materials, used methods and equipment for treatment and separation. Polymer waste – basic recycling technologies for their processing. Glass, paper, textile waste – basic recycling technologies for their processing. Selected combined waste – basic recycling technologies for their processing. Aluminum waste, copper waste – basic recycling technologies for their processing. Iron, zinc, tin, lead waste – basic recycling technologies for their processing. Waste containing precious metals – basic recycling technologies for their processing. Circular economy, waste minimization, product life cycle. Possibilities of waste utilization from ecological and economic point of view. Limiting aspects of waste utilization, utilization rate of selected waste.
